I want to build a small, real-world web application that pulls live information from a third-party data-provider API, displays it in the browser, and lets a user filter or search through the results. The front-end can be straightforward HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; the back-end may run in Python (Flask, FastAPI, or Django) as long as setup is simple.
My main goal is to understand how a clean, well-structured project wires these pieces together, so clear comments and a concise README are essential. Feel free to suggest light front-end frameworks or charting libraries if they make the interface smoother, but vanilla JS is perfectly acceptable too.
Deliverables • Complete, runnable source code • README with environment setup and API key instructions • One sample endpoint integrated from the chosen data provider, parsed and rendered responsively in the UI • Simple search or filter on the fetched dataset
Acceptance criteria • App installs and starts with a single command on macOS/Linux • API call succeeds using the provided key or demo token • Data is presented without console errors and is filterable in-page • Code is commented clearly enough for a beginner to follow along.
