My name is Jordan , and I’m seeking legal representation regarding a case of unauthorised and exploitative use of my image by EE, part of the BT Group.
In July 2024, I participated in a shoot, I was paid a flat rate of £500 and signed a basic model release under vague and undefined terms- No legal explanation or usage briefing was offered, and I was not in a position to fully understand the implications due to language limitations (English is not my first language) and lack of clarity. I believe a court will recognise that this was a calculated way to bypass fair licensing and compensation standards. As a Black creative from a minority background, I strongly believe my vulnerability was taken advantage of in this process.
I’ve been misled through ambiguous paperwork and then commercially exploited. A £500 flat rate for a campaign of this scale and visibility is grossly disproportionate to its actual commercial value.
My image is now being displayed nationwide in over 400 EE stores (maybe worldwide as I have no idea how much they have used my image/ footage), featured prominently across in-store visuals. This has caused:
The loss of a major contract with a competitive brands.
Long-term harm to my career.
And ongoing emotional distress from the scale and permanence of the exposure.
This usage was never disclosed, licensed appropriately, or compensated fairly. I now have photographic and video evidence of my likeness displayed across dozens of EE locations.
I am looking for a solicitor willing to take on this case under a commission-based agreement. While I believe the case is highly winnable, I know that professional legal representation will give me greater leverage against a corporation of this scale.
I am currently preparing to seek damages, based on:
Industry-standard commercial usage fees.
The scale of the campaign.
And emotional/brand harm due to the exploitation of my image.
Even without legal counsel, I could present a compelling claim in Small Claims Court and to the ICO. However, due to the size and legal weight of EE/BT Group, I would prefer to be represented professionally
