We are looking to engage a skilled professional to help design a nature photograph database and online portal. The goal of this project is to create an easy to use platform that allows users to browse, discover and learn about different flora and fauna specimens from around the world.
The successful applicant will be responsible for conceptualizing and building out the overall information architecture and interface for the site. This includes creating intuitive catalogs and taxonomy for different plant and animal species. Classification should be based on attributes like kingdom, phylum, class etc.
Site functionality must include high resolution zooming of images, image comparisons, basic search and advanced search options. Users should be able to view species profiles that display common and scientific names, description, habitat, geographic range and other interesting facts. Integration of maps to show natural ranges is preferable.
Content population and organization will also be a key task. Sourcing of quality stock photographs with requiredmodel and property releases from reputed sources is important. Design and development must meet modern accessibility and responsiveness standards. Ongoing content updates and maintenance of the platform over time is expected.
The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio demonstrating similar work, be highly proficient in HTML, CSS and responsive frameworks.
