We are seeking an individual developer (no agencies please) to join our software studio team. This is a part-time position initially (20 hours per week) with the potential to transition to full-time (30-40 hours per week).
Primary responsibilities will include web application development and support, with an emphasis on Python and PHP (Python is preferred). Additionally, there will be some frontend work involving HTML, JavaScript (particularly Vue.js), and CSS.
We don't expect you to have extensive experience in all of these technologies, but a reasonable level of expertise in either PHP or Python, along with a basic understanding of the other technology, is required. We strongly encourage learning on the job, so you'll have opportunities to expand your skills and experience.
Key requirements:
- Ability to work independently and solve problems, while also being open to asking for assistance when needed (we value collaboration). - Strong communication skills and proficiency in English, as you'll regularly interact with the team through our issue tracking system and group chat, and directly communicate with clients. - Availability during European timezone (EST) working hours or willingness to adjust your schedule accordingly. - Adequate coding experience in web development and scripting environments, preferably with Python or PHP. - Familiarity with frontend JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, or willingness to work with them. - Experience working with Git and knowledge of the "Github Flow" working process. - Commitment to meeting weekly reporting requirements, including logging time on Upwork or relevant project management systems. - Excellent time management skills to prioritize work effectively and implement requirements accurately. - Willingness to conduct research and self-teach as necessary. - Adherence to specified coding standards. - Familiarity with automated testing and test-driven development. - Bonus points for experience with the following (please mention in your response):
Working with popular database servers, especially Postgres. - Django or similar Python-based frameworks. - WordPress. - JavaScript and jQuery. - Vue.js (and familiarity with Angular which we use in one project). - Docker (and Compose) or Vagrant. - C# or C++ - If you are located in or near Alicante, Spain, that's a major plus!
