The Ricardo Community Foundation is a new charitable organisation that retains the freehold of St.Clement's Hospital development in Bow, on behalf of the community, in perpetuity. Trustees represent local community groups and residents local to the area, who seek to fund or directly carry out charitable works at St.Clement's and in the surrounding area with the proceeds of ground rents collected from leaseholders living on the development. As we setup the charity the volunteer trustees are now looking for a logo.
There could be some inspiration from the childrens rhyme "Oranges and Lemons, the bells of St Clements". A crest exists that was created a long time ago when St Clements was a workhouse and later psychiatric hospital. It was later redesigned by the developer Linden Homes (see attached). For copyright reasons, the logo for the Ricardo Community Foundation should not resemble this logo, but can be inspired by it.
I have uploaded an image of the iconic clocktower building to show the historic fabric of the estate.
We hope for a modern logo that can have historic elements, but ideally is not overloaded but simple and elegant.
The name of the organisation stems from David Ricardo, a famous political economist who once lived on site (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Ricardo).
