My husband and I just purchased a new build flat and we want to create a family friendly, warm cosy space. I am inclined to barn, and modern style, but functionality is paramount and of course we will be spending a lot of live indoors so want the space to be aesthetically appealing as well. Please find attached
1. Clean floor plan
2. Doodled floor plan with skirting measurements in cms
3. Some images of the flat - 6th floor
Things we need to figure out and get advice on
General - best type of paint/wallpaper for young kids - we have no allergies - needs to be wipeable. Colour in light of the furniture to maximise the space. Advice on the type and choice of furniture- The most urgent are the dining, sofa, children's beds, master bed. Best placements for shelving units and utilising walls. As mentioned food smell is an issue which materials are more smell resistant or washable cleanable. Placement for an electric arier/clothing rack. We cannot hang clothes in the balcony as per lease terms.
Specific advice needed on
1. Open plan area - Placement of the Sofa, armchair, dining in the open plan area. We want the main seating on the bedroom 2 adjacent wall, tv unit on the wall in between the balcony door and window. Whats the best place to put kids toys, storage for throws, bookshelves. Shall we go for Blinds - vertical or fitted or curtains??Choice of lights
2. Masterbed - Placement of the kingsize bed, dressing table 88cm and we need a chest of drawers/wardrobe
3. Bed 3 - We want to make it in office/guest space. Need to put 2 workstations and thought of a sofa bed when we need to turn it around into guest. Is that good idea or can we have a small bed with 2 work stations? Bookshelves?
4. Bed 3 - Kids room one is 4 and 1. We don't want to do bunk as wall height is just 8ft and wanted to give headspace. Best placement for beds, study desk/activity table
5. Planning the storage - shelving units - We plan to have the shoe shelf, jacket stations and have luggages, a kids travel system. storage or household items
6. Bathroom - shelving, storage
What is most urgent is getting a plan and choosing the big ticket furniture so we can start living there by end of this month. If we can have a consultation and discussion on the plan so we can buy the main furniture asap and slowly work ourselves on the plan to complete the decor. We have a tight budget of £8k. Please let us know your quote for the consultation.
Looking forward and best regards
