We’re a grass-roots advocacy group for elephants and are looking to create a fresh new website.
This is our existing site - https://actionforelephantsuk.org/
The brief for website developer for new Action for Elephants website:
Our key requirements:
• Ease of use. We would like to be able to make changes to content ourselves as and when needed, do blogs, etc, as well as alter the structure, add pages and so on (as we do now) without a lot of specialist knowledge of the new Wordpress.
• Design should be clear, navigation easy.
You should have:
• 3+ years’ experience in website design • portfolio of sites you’ve done • rapid response time to any request or problem on the site (UK or US time zones) • ideally some experience doing sites for NGOs or other advocacy groups (but not essential) We would show you some websites that we like, for possible ideas.
Do you first do an alpha version which the client then tests for 2 weeks and provides feedback?
Content:
For the site development you can use the existing content on the website. This will be revised and updated by us.
Navigation
• 6-7 main tabs across the top, provisionally:
About
African elephants
Asian elephants
Trophy hunting
Take action
Elephant Anne (this is a current campaign so perhaps could be highlighted in some way)
• Drop-down menus from each tab . Currently there are around 25 extra pages in all in the drop-downs but these will be reduced Some of them have further sub-pages which also can be reorganized. • Photo gallery + photo archive
Other features / widgets
• Take Action / Sign petition button
• Blog (+ monthly archives)
• Search
• Gallery
• Live Twitter feed
Possible extras to add in future: • Upcoming Event button • Donate button • Others?
Panel with contact info (this is currently at bottom of page on our website): • Contact us • Join AFE / sign up to newsletter • Link to FB page • Link to Twitter acct
Your quote should include: • a fixed price for the website development, for X number of pages • 1-year web hosting for our domain name. Does this remain the same cost in subsequent years? • maintenance charges: do you do this on a per/hour basis?
(I put a budget of £800 for now, which is negotiable.)
I trust you would take care of the migration from the old host, is that correct?
