The Other Animals is a one-hour weekly animal-themed talk show that is broadcast and livestreamed on WWDB in Philadelphia Friday at 10:00am. It has been in production since April of 2019. After each broadcast is complete it is made available as a podcast from the standard podcast providers (Spotify, iTunes, iHeart, etc.)
WWDB provides its services via “brokered programming,” meaning slots are purchased by the various advertisers / hosts. WWDB charges The Other Animals $300 for each episode on a month-to-month contractual basis. Currently, The Other Animals has a single named sponsor which had been paying $100 per episode but has since reduced to $50 due to Covid. The remaining amount is funded by the show’s host.
Social Media Objectives
1) The Other Animals maintains a website, developed on the GoDaddy platform, created and maintained by the show’s host. It is woefully inadequate, and I am looking for a major redesign.
2) The Other Animals has presence on Twitter and Facebook. I am looking for recommendations on enhancing the efficacy of these sites.
3) I am looking to market The Other Animals to other media outlets in the hope of being acquired. In order to support this effort, I need to know metrics pertaining to the audience. WWDB provides no such metrics, so I am dependent on subscribers from the various podcast platforms. Because the RSS feeds to the platforms are managed by WWDB, I am unable to readily determine the number of current subscribers or how I might drive those numbers.
4) It is presently difficult to locate the podcasts – simply keying in “The Other Animals” does not return the show in Spotify, for instance; the user must key in “WWDB”.
