I am looking for some product development to visualise my requirements and then create 2D and 3D drawings I can then eventually send manufacturers to quote for works.
Initially I would like just a basic design, which I will come back to and amend as other parts of my product develop
Its not the most exciting of products but I hope you can help me!
Basically I want to produce a plastic box that I can use for shipping goods in. The box will be made of strong colourful plastic and be able to withstand the riggers of transport and multi handling with a long life. It will need to be able to house a hidden PCB, electronics and wires in the base and have LED lights on all sides visible from the outside and a display screen on one side. There will need to be 6 male USB ports in the base one side, and six female USB ports on the base on the other side. Inside the box I would like 2 moveable partitions, one left to right and one front to back, which can be positioned every 2 cm, effectively creating 4 zones within the box, these partitions need to be secured into the box to prevent loss. Finally the box will need a lid, which again cannot be removed to prevent loss, and with an electronically controlled lock/bolt mechanism. Multiple boxes will be stacked around and on top of each other, so a design in the lid and base to prevent slipping and movement when in transit. Ideally I am thinking of tracks/groves where the boxes can slide along one another, when 2 boxes are butted up against each other the 6 USBs from one box engage with the 6 USB ports in another box. Obviously the slot design would need a way so the boxes were only ever placed so the male USB hit the female USB. The bottom boxes in the pile would sit on a frame which also included the slots, making sure they lined up correctly. It is this frame that will then be loaded onto and off of the delivery vehicles with the boxes on, with the aid of a fork lift truck.
Requirements
1. Plastic box initial size 20cm x 20cm x 20cm (h) external, strong reinforced design, not able to see through.
2. Screwed within the base of the box, a PCB board 15cm x 15cm x 2cm (h)
3. Also hidden within the base of the box is 6 USB extension cables, with 6 male ports on the left of the box and 6 female ports on the right of the box
4. Small Display screen on the front side of the box say 15cm x 10cm
5. 3 different coloured LED lights on all 4 sides within the base
6. PCB, USB ports, LED lights, display screen and all cables hidden and not easily accessible to prevent theft
6. Hinged lid on the top of the box, with electric locking feature. This lock would need to be built into the sides of the box to prevent wires moving within the lid everytime it was opened.
7. Internally, the box to have 2 dividers which can move, one left to right and one front to back. These can be slid into groves within the walls of the box every 2cm, effectively creating 4 zones within the box. Dividers to remain within the box to prevent loss.
8. Each external side of the box and the lid to contain a barcode and QR code which can be scanned. These codes to be added at a later stage (manufactured separately from the box, but once added are immoveable.
9. The design doesn't have to be pretty, just functional.
10. If the Screen and LED lights can be hidden in someway to protect them from damage, maybe behind clear plastic of the box?
11. If the USB ports can be protect from damage and foreign objects, ideally with a cover that retracts once another box butts up against it.
12. This has the potential to be a mass produced box, so the manufacture costs are important to keep as low as possible.
13. Once at the manufacture stage, there will be multiple size options of the box increasing in 20cm increments.
The sizes above are the smallest, then for example 40 x 20 x 20 (h), 60 x 20 x 20 (h) 60 x 40 x 40 (h)
Thanks for taking time to read my project, I would be interested to know if you would like to be involved, and next steps forward please.
